Breaking Down Mexico’s Possible Involvement in the Search for Nancy Guthrie

The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie, has resulted in a new theory surrounding Mexico.

Nearly three weeks after Nancy was last seen alive in Tucson, Arizona, some crime watchers have speculated that the 84-year-old could have found herself in Mexico after being kidnapped from her home.

While the Pima County Sheriff’s Office isn’t confirming the theory, investigators know for certain that Nancy was last seen alive on January 30 after enjoying dinner with family members.

Police later confirmed a 911 call was made on February 1 after the mother of three didn’t meet up with friends to watch a church service virtually.

Could Drug Cartels Be Involved in Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance?

While the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said there is no evidence to suggest that Mexican drug cartels were involved with Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, NewsNation reported that the mother of three’s home is located about 60 miles from the United States – Mexico border.

“If this does involve Mexican drug cartels, I think it was done with the blessing of the Mexican cartels,” Robert Almonte, former U.S. Marshal and retired deputy chief with the El Paso Police Department, told NewsNation on February 18. “And they probably reached out to somebody to do the kidnapping.”

Almonte, who is not affiliated with the Guthrie case, added, “This is right up the Mexican cartel’s alley.”
